How I Make my Soil Blocks

Many of you have asked me about my soil blocks. While it’s NOT a requisite for gardening (and neither is seed starting for that matter), it is a really enjoyable way for me to get my hands dirty in winter.

The recipe I follow is in my book (page 170), though as I noted in this video, I ended up refraining from adding the “garden soil” component. They are very flexible ingredients. As noted in my book, I have tried coconut coir both as a complete replacement for peat and cutting it in half and I preferred the half and half results better.
